Nitish Das Claims the Title in Shatranj 3.0
Nitish das with champion Trophy along with Md.Abdul Matlab, Secretary of Kamrul(R) chess Association, Rajib Dhar, Secretary of All Assam Chess Association, and Ravi Kant Tiwari Chief Arbiter of the Tournament.
Shatranj 3.0 is the third edition of the annual chess Festival of Assam engineering college which held during their annual festival I. e Pyrokinesis!!
Nitish Das claims the title in Shatranj 3.0, organized by Assam Engineering College(AEC) on the 15th of February, 2020 at AEC, Jalukbari. In the final round, Nitish beat Tanveer Ahmed on the first board to score 6 points out of a possible 7. On the second and third board, Aarohan Bharadwaj and Nihad Islam Hazarika defeated Amlan Mahanta and Subhajit Dhar respectively. Aarohan and NIhad both scored 6 points as well but were placed 2nd and 3rd respectively on the basis of lower tiebreak scores. The top 10 players of the event were awarded trophies (for top 3 ranks), medals (for 4th-10th ranks) along with cash prizes.
Altogether 52 players including 20 rated players participated in the event, which included the participation of Mr. Rajib Dhar, General Secretary, All Assam Chess Association to make the event more interesting. The tournament was conducted by Rituraj Borgohain and Readers Singh of AEC as Tournament Director, Anubhav Dev Sarma as Organising Secretary, Ravi Kant Tiwari as Chief Arbiter, and Durlov Kalita of AEC as Deputy Chief Arbiter. Prizes were distributed by Mr. Rajib Dhar General Secretary, All Assam Chess Association, And Mr. Abdul Mataleb, General Secretary of Kamrup Rural District Chess Association.
Top 3 prizes were got equal but points but due to better tie Nitish das emerge as a champion of the 3rd edition of Shatranj while Aarohan Bhardwaj and Nihad Islam Hazarika settled for 2nd and 3rd position respectively.
