FM KSHITIJ BHANDARI of Nepal Clinched the title of the 1st  MADHU MAYA GURUNG MEMORIAL ONLINE CHESS TOURNAMENT 2020 ORGANISED BY KNIGHT CHESS ACADEMY SIKKIM CASH PRIZE SPONSORED BY MARICHMAN GURUNG AND FAMILY on 6th July 2020 at 6:00pm to 7:30 pm at LICHESS Platform in Swiss Format with 9 rounds. 

FM Kshitij Bhandari, Imtiaz Islam Bora, and Iftikar Alom Mazumdar have scored 8.5 points each in respective 9 rounds but FM Kshitij grabs the first position on better tie-break. This was the  2nd tournament organized by Sikkim Chess Association after successfully organizing the Northeast Biggest Online Prize Money Chess Tournament 2020. The Tournament was Organised in the memory of Late Madhu Maya Gurung who was the Grandmother of Two Times Northeast Champion Rahul Gurung and his Family Members. 

The Chief Arbiter of the tournament was FA Suraj Gupta and Tournament Director was Mahendra Dhakal, Secretary of Sikkim Chess Association. Top 40 players were rewarded as cash Prizes after the Completion of the tournament. Altogether 167 players from a different state of northeast along with players from North Bengal and Sikkim Participated in the tournament.
